Album of The Month - Reputation By Taylor Swift

Reputation is Taylor Swift’s upcoming sixth studio album, slated for a November 10 release. The title, release date, and cover art were revealed after Taylor removed all previous social media presence and uploaded three videos of a snake’s tail, body, and head; most considered this a reference to the “snake” reputation she was given after it was revealed she wrote Calvin Harris' “This Is What You Came For” after their breakup, which worsened during public fallouts with Kanye West and Katy Perry.

To promote the album, Swift teamed up with Target to produce two exclusive magazines which feature poetry, paintings, handwritten lyrics, and other things from Swift, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the music video for “Look What You Made Me Do.” In addition, her web store offers new merchandise based on the album, including rings and a hoodie with the snake motif. To promote the upcoming tour, Swift is participating in two partnerships – one with Ticketmaster and one with UPS. The Ticketmaster program has garnered criticism due to its encouragement of fans to buy merchandise to win tickets.

The lead single “Look What You Made Me Do” was released along with a lyric video on August 25. The track and its videos broke multiple records and the video in particular was heavily analysed. For me, Taylor's songs are always so relatable and her lyrics are somehow authentic and raw. Even though, the media have surrounded her and her relationships, her music speaks for itself, even though she has moved towards the pop genre her new songs such as Ready For It and Gorgeous; the lyrics and sound are pure genius. It's been a long three year wait but I am definitely 'Ready For It...' My rating 10/10.
