Shake It Off - The Best Milkshakes in London

This month as the weather is warming up, why not try all the milkshakes in London in order to tell you our favourites. Especially with the arrival of American chains like Shack Shake, whose creamy milkshakes are currently bringing all the boys to the yard.

It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it… MEAT Market, Covent Garden MEAT Market; the fast-food baby of the guys that brought us MEAT Liqour and MEAT Mission. This takeaway dreamboat is tucked behind the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden market, away from the tourists who will only ever find this if they accidentally stumble across it. While the burgers are everything you would expect from burger aficionado Yianni Papoutsis (juicy, cheesy, gooey goodness), the milkshake is the mistress you’ll still be thinking about when you go to bed at night. We thoroughly recommend going hard; order the thick creamy vanilla, maple syrup and bourbon number.

We don’t know who Ed is, but boy does he know how to hit the spot with his shakes. We wouldn’t recommend going here if you’re really hungry or trying to impress a friend as we believe there are better burgers to be had; but if you’re after a quick-fix sugar high, then get yourself down here. We’re big fans of the banana and peanut butter; peanut butter makes everything better (unless you have a nut allergy). Reasonably priced and with several London locations, your milkshake dreams will be answered at Ed’s

The success of Tinseltown means that London is not short of the American-style diners that seem to be popping up everywhere. As with Ed’s Diner, we would recommend dropping in here for a milkshake and a snack over a full-on sit down meal with your pals. The extensive milkshake menu will leave you spoilt for choice (there are over 50 flavours to choose from), so make sure you’re feeling in a decisive mood. Oh, and FYI, Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is also a fan.

The Riding House Café is good for a lot of things, and their version of the milkshake is one of them. Their hard shakes will have your taste buds tingling as they delight your senses with the creamy goodness of a regular shake injected with a shot of your favourite liquor. Our favourite has to be the Liquid Toblerone (a mix of Baileys, Frangelico, Kahlua, honey and chocolate).

After sampling their milkshakes in Dubai, one of the our colleagues was so excited to discover that Shake Shack was coming to London that he walked for 30 minutes and then waited 30 minutes in the blistering sunshine last weekend to get his hands on a strawberry milkshake. That’s dedication. Claims that this will be the best strawberry shake you will ever have are still to be verified, but we’re taking his word for it.
