Colour Correction Decoded:

Colour correcting is one of the first skills makeup artists learn at beauty school. Why? Because you need an immaculate base before you can even think about titivating your skin with highlights, contours and colour. While the array of greens, purple and peaches used to achieve this might look alien, in practise its simple. Follow these steps green cancels our redness, purple counteracts sallow skin and yellow hides purple, blue veins around the eyes. If you're not sure, go for a peach tone. It's the most universally flattering and is a natural colour re-setter and they'll blow your concealer out of the water.

Easy-Peasy Perfecting:

1. Bloggers have snapped themselves using red lipstick under their eyes to hide dark circles. Far more sensible (and suitable for such a delicate area) is Becca's Backlight Targeted Colour Corrector in Papaya - £21

2. Rising temperatures and summer sun can exacerbate redness, but the minty green pigments in Pur Cosmetics Correcting Prier Redness Reducer £24, balance skin-tones, while aloe and shea butter soothe irritation.

3. Since when did we have just one skin worry to hide? Marc Jacobs Cover Sticks £28 are multicoloured bullets of magic. The Bright Now, with pink and lavender tones, perks up tired looking skin, dries velvety-soft and doubles up as a great primer, too.

4. Patchy complexions can be rectified with the new Stila Correct & Perfect All In One Colour Correcting Palette £32.50. Easy to blend with fingers or a flat-topped concealer brush, it locks everything in place.

Here we have some famous faces showing off this flawless and Summer fresh looks...
