September 2018 - Film
Welcome All!
In terms of new films this month, here are two recommendations that you may find entertaining in the cinema this month.
Films in September:
A Simple Favour is a thriller centered on a woman's sudden disappearance from a small town. Mommy blogger Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) is desperate for news of her best friend, Emily (Blake Lively), who vanished the same day she asked Stephanie to pick up her son from school. Stephanie works with Emily's husband, Sean (Henry Golding), to solve the mystery, only to discover that Emily had some pretty wild secrets. Director Paul Feig and Kendrick are both well known for their comedic abilities, so expect some dark humor in this crime story. There will also likely be violence, drinking, car crashes, sexuality, and plenty of twists and turns, probably making it best for teens and up.
Night School stars Kevin Hart as Teddy, a dim-witted grill salesman who accidentally blows up his own store during his candle-lit marriage proposal. In an effort to impress his fiancĂ©e with a better job, Teddy decides to get his GED and enrols in a night school course taught by Tiffany Haddish’s character, Kerry (“I’m here to make a little extra cash so that I can afford this warrant that I got – but that’s none of y’all business,” Haddish deadpans). Night School also stars Ben Schwartz, Rob Riggle, Yvonne Orji, Taran Killam and Mary Lynn Rajskub. The film opens September 28th. My rating 9/10.
