Album of the Month - Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection by Kylie Minogue
Kylie Minogue proves once again that she is still a force to be reckoned with, as she has secured her seventh number one UK album. The Australian singer’s latest greatest hits album, Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection, has reached number one, knocking Lewis Capaldi’s album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, off the top spot. Other new chart entries this week include The Black Keys’ Let’s Rock, which hit number three, and Chris Brown’s Indigo, at number nine. Over on the singles chart, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber continue to reign, as their collaboration I Don’t Care holds on strong with an eighth week at number one. According to the Official Charts Company, 51-year-old Kylie has now joined the likes of Coldplay, Elton John, Barbra Streisand and Take That, who all also have seven UK number one albums.
The album features all seven of Kylie’s UK chart-topping hits, as well as a further 23 top 10 singles, and has also hit number one on the UK Vinyl Albums Chart and is also the week’s best-selling album on cassette. This follows on from Kylie’s highly acclaimed headlining set at Glastonbury last weekend, where she wowed tens of thousands of fans with her 18-song set on the Pyramid stage.
