67th Post - November Overview

Finally, here are my recommendations for November, hope you enjoy them and find them interesting to watch, listen and eat. In the meantime, November has a lot to offer especially in London, so head this month and take in all the best new events, exhibitions and best events in the capital. London is a treasure trove of brilliant days out and activities worth boasting about.

How do you look today? You know image is everything. But under those perfect clothes and perfect smiles, everyone has their not-so-perfect secrets. Lucky for me, nothing can stay hidden forever. Whether the truth's in the diary or the Daily News, once it's out it will change everything. Let the chips fall where they may. Along with the husbands and boyfriends.  The French say, "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose." Sounds romantic. But all it means is the more things change the more they stay the same. Outsiders remain on the outside. At least for now. And the wild cards just keep getting wilder. But even the same characters can start to play new power games. And old stars can cease to shine. What did I say about letting the chips fall where they may?

Sky Garden:

Located on Fenchurch Street, right in the heart of the City, this beautiful venue caused quite a stir when it launched back in 2015. It still remains a draw. Zip up 35 floors of the Walkie Talkie's shapely layers and you'll be transported to a public garden with some truly spectacular views. Sky Garden boasts three storeys of landscaped gardens lush with South African and Mediterranean plants, observation decks, an open-air terrace, two restaurants, a bar and an uninterrupted panorama of the city's skyline.

American Bar at The Savoy

Lots of London bars try to recreate a fantasy world of retro glamour. The 125-year-old American Bar already has one. There’s no single element that creates the feel, but it’s a mix of everything: the portraits of showbiz stars, the tasteful buff/ivory colour scheme, the gleaming baby grand (in action every evening), the impeccable jazz, the polished welcome from tie-and-jacketed waiters who greet you as a long-lost friend. In this setting, you could drink a can of Foster’s and have a good time. But you’ll be drinking much better than that, of course. The cocktails here have always ranked among London’s finest, whether on or off the extensive list (which is organised both by historical eras and by spirit and wine categories). This comes at a cost, of course, but prices are not out of line with other top hotel bars. And your drinks come with not only excellent bar snacks but the thrill of sitting in a room where Marlene Dietrich turned heads back in the day.
