22nd Post - February Overview

Finally, here are my recommendations for February, hope you enjoy them and find them interesting to watch, listen and eat. In the meantime, February has a lot to offer especially in London, so head this month and take in all the best new events, exhibitions and best events in the capital.

The End Of Longing:

Internationally acclaimed actor Matthew Perry (Friends, The Odd Couple) leads the cast in the world premiere of his playwriting debut, The End of Longing, at the Playhouse Theatre, London, from 2nd February – 14th May 2016. This fast paced, and bittersweet comic new play, will be directed by the critically acclaimed and award-winning director, Lindsay Posner (Speed-the-Plow, Other Desert Cities) and designed by the 2015 Evening Standard award-winner, Anna Fleischle (Hangmen). Meet Jack, Stephanie, Joseph and Stevie: four lost souls, entering their forties and searching for meaning. After sharing one raucous night together in a downtown Los Angeles bar, their lives become irreversibly entwined in a rollercoaster journey that forces them to confront the darker sides of their relationships. A sharply written and hilarious dark comedy, The End of Longing, will make you realise that broken people don’t need to stay broken.

Chinese New Year Celebrations:

If you’re not too busy celebrating soppy stuff on February 14 you might like to welcome in the Year of the Monkey at this massive Chinese New Year celebration which will fill most of the West End with music, acrobatics, activities and pyrotechnics. A grand parade featuring ten lion dance teams will set of from Trafalgar Square at 10am, weaving its way up to the buzzing heart of Chinatown. On Wardour Street and Gerrard Street you’ll find craft stalls, Chinese food stands and more traditional dance, plus a stage on Shaftesbury Avenue will host local up-and-coming talent. Families should head to Charing Cross Road where there’ll be musical performances from Chinese Young Culture Ambassadors and a martial arts display as well as crafts and workshops.

Trafalgar Square’s party will go off with a bang on the main stage at noon – they’ve bought in some firecrackers especially. The line-up of performances includes gravity-defying high pole dances, comedy and acrobatics from Szechuan Opera and a monkey-themed finale involving fireworks and a light projection on Nelson’s Column. Naturally the 100-odd restaurants, bars and cafés in the area will be celebrating too, with special menus and their own events on offer, though the event is usually extremely popular so expect to queue for your noodles.

But, if you feel like relaxing this month then put your feet up and enjoy Glamour magazine, full of celebrity gossip, style and secrets!! Hope you all enjoy my recommendations and have a great time in February... See you in March, when I'll be sharing style secrets, as well as places to go and things to do to get you 'in the know' for 2016!
