February's Beauty Products
The new-season products worth investing in:
THE EYE BRIGHTENER Summer Fridays Light Aura Vitamin C + Peptide Eye Cream
It has become the norm to abandon our eye creams and simply use general skincare products around the eyes. Unfortunately, this is not enough: this area needs targeted, specific products. The key is to choose light-textured creams (heavier formulas can cause puffiness) that absorb easily to hydrate the ultra-dry under-eye area. I’ve found that a daily dose of this eye cream from Summer Fridays, which contains a highly stable form of vitamin C, has made a noticeable difference.
THE HAND-CARE HERO Margaret Dabbs London Spa Size Intensive Anti-Ageing Hand Serum
If the past two years have taught us anything, it’s that we need to take better care of our hands. This super-hydrating hand serum, from legendary hand, feet and legs expert Margaret Dabbs, has fast become my post-handwash go-to. It’s nourishing but light, and the spa size allows you to go a little ‘heavy handed’.
THE SUPER-LUXE SKIN SOOTHER Omorovicza Cushioning Day Cream
Really, the name says it all. This beautifully textured, algae-rich face cream from Omorovicza absorbs fast to act as a mini barrier between sensitive, dry, out-of-sorts skin and anything that can aggravate it (cold wind, air con, etc). It’s lovely to apply daily, or you can use it after an afternoon at the beach, on the water, or post-flight. It will also help minimize the effects of a more potent retinol if applied 10 minutes later.
THE BUILDABLE BASE Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation
This latest launch from makeup-artist supremo Charlotte Tilbury is one that excited the entire beauty team. In fact, everyone who has tried this hybrid skincare-based foundation has become an instant convert – and for good reason. It is medium coverage but buildable, which means you can customize the coverage for those good skin days, as well as for those not-so-good skin days. The satin-like matte finish comes in 30 shades, and it really doesn’t feel like you’re wearing foundation.
THE MUST-HAVE MASKS Decree SOS Revitalising Mask x 6
I keep three Decree SOS Revitalising Masks in the fridge and three in the bathroom cabinet, which means I get the amazing calming and hydrating results, whichever way I feel my skin needs at the time. On a puffy face or post-peel, using this mask like a cool compress is wonderful, but, at others, warming it slightly (I float the sachet in the bath before use) just adds that extra luxe touch of comfort.
THE METALLIC MAKEUP UPDATE RMS Beauty Eyelights
To say I’m obsessed with this product would be an understatement. The RMS Beauty Eyelights creamy metallic eyeshadow in Sunbeam – there are six shades available – makes the most beautiful (and buildable) eyeshadow. Whether you desire a more subtle shimmer or something more impactful, it’s long-wearing and crease-proof. The trick, however, is to blend it quickly, as the formula dries fast. What also makes this product unique is that it includes a reusable key that you attach to the end of the tube to get every last bit out before recycling – genius.
THE COLLAGEN-BOOSTING HYDRATOR Sarah Chapman Platinum Pep8 Stem Cell Serum
Sometimes we just need targeted skincare that delivers on its claims and, for me, Sarah Chapman’s Platinum Pep8 Stem Cell Serum does just that. I needed something to right the wrongs of a colder climate coupled with central heating – and this does the job. This intelligent serum has been created to plump and improve the skin barrier while making skin far more supple. Its texture is substantial, but not greasy, and leaves skin feeling super-hydrated. It has quickly become one of my new-season skincare staples.
