Jake Bugg’s seventh studio album, Alamo, represents a pivotal transition to creative independence as his first record released via the label Thirty Tigers. After leaving a major label, the 32-year-old songwriter embraced a more disciplined and unguarded approach, stripping away past professional defenses to craft an intimate, 11-track collection alongside producers Jimmy Hogarth and Steve McKewan.
Musically grounded in raw, acoustic-driven folk and country instrumentation, the album moves from the yearning isolation of the opener 'When The Night' to the emotional fragility of the title track. Throughout the record—including the fast-paced, reflective singles 'Never Can Tell' and 'Day By Day', Bugg untangles themes of paranoia, fading friendships, and personal ghosts, delivering a deeply introspective body of work that prioritises emotional honesty over pop experimentation.
