6th Post - October Overview
Finally, here are my recommendations for October, hope you enjoy them and find them interesting to watch, listen and eat. In the meantime, October has a lot to offer especially in London, so head this month and take in all the best new events, exhibitions and best events in the capital. The return of crisp days and cold evenings mean we're on the verge of winter, but that's no excuse to hibernate. October is all about long leafy walks, pubs with fires and fancy dress (for Halloween, of course).
The Chocolate Show:
There are some dubious dedications in England's calendar these days; we never realised that we actually needed a national 'be nice to nettles week', to be honest. But chocolate week is one we can really get behind, and this three-day consumer show devoted to the sweet treat of dreams will round it off very nicely. Demonstrations, talks, workshops and tastings from the world's best chocolate brands will keep visitors' mouths watering, while daily catwalk shows will involve couture made entirely out of the sticky stuff.

Halloween in London:
BT Tower Climb - Most tourists and many Londoners have made the impatient mistake of tackling Covent Gardens tube's 193 steps instead of waiting their turn at the lifts during rush hour on a sticky summer day. If you think that sounds like a nightmare here's a genuinely daunting thought for Halloween: making the 842-step climb to the top of the BT tower. But then again those who choose to ascend to the 34th floor will be rewarded with a pretty spectacular, usually inaccessible, view of London, rather than the sight of unnerving metallic street performers. Plus it's for a good cause, those taking part will be asked to raise a minimum of £200 for UK charity Action on Hearing Loss. Halloween climbers are encouraged to don face paints and non-trip hazard costumes, although the likelihood is that those that don't choose to make the effort will still emerge resembling sweaty slow moving zombies (see Covent Garden Tube).
Halloween Late: Death in the Archives - Stories of the gruesome deaths and mysterious disappearances of explorers at sea will be dredged up from the deep at this ghoulish National Maritime Museum Late. During the course of the evening you'll be able to investigate tales of destruction in the archives of the Caird Library, get creative in a 'death drawing' session run by London Drawing Room and observe live taxidermy demonstrations.
