Album of the Month - Fast & Furious 7

Pop music and cars have a long history, but the Furious 7 soundtrack goes one step further, seeking out 16 tracks thrilling enough for the biggest chase movie of the decade. T.I. and Young Thug zigzag over rave synths on "Off-Set," bachata singer Prince Royce goes deep house on the coy "My Angel," and French Montana flows over J. Balvin's reggaeton hit "Ay Vamos." Naturally, Lil Jon and DJ Snake's "Turn Down for What" makes an appearance. The resulting LP doesn't just move between hip-hop, EDM and Latin pop, it shows all three genres trading ideas. Environmentalists, rejoice: This one is plenty of fun even if no one's burning gas. Having already broken Spotify records for most plays in a day and week, Wiz Khalifa's 'See You Again' has reached another milestone by becoming the UK's fastest-selling single of 2015. The Charlie Puth-assisted track, which features in Fast & Furious 7 over a tribute to the movie's sadly departed star Paul Walker, climbed 21 places to Number 1 this week with combined chart sales of 193,000, comfortably overtaking previous fastest-seller 'Love Me Like You Do' by Ellie Goulding, which boasted 172,000 chart sales. Earlier this week, Chairman and CEO of Atlantic Records, Craig Kallman, described the song as "one of those special moments when all the forces have aligned to create a song that is resonating emotionally with millions around the world. The combination of Wiz's star power with the introduction of Charlie as a brilliant singer and songwriter is truly magical, striking a nerve with Paul Walker’s legion of fans and the film's enormous audience." My rating 9/10.
