In terms of new films this month, here are two recommendations that you may find entertaining in the cinema this month.
Films in November:
This month Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard star in Allied a story that takes place in 1942 North Africa, where Canadian intelligence officer Max Vatan (Brad Pitt) meets French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard) on a secret mission behind enemy lines. The couple reunites in London and get married, eventually having a child together. Their relationship is strong and normal but becomes threatened by the brink of war, as Vatan is presented with the possibility that Beausejour is a sleeper spy working for the Germans. Vatan is then placed under considerable pressure to kill Beausejour himself or to be executed for failing to obey orders. Convinced of her innocence, he sets out on a very dangerous mission to clear her name. My rating 8/10.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the first of an upcoming series of films based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, one of the companion books to J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. The film was Rowling's screen writing debut. David Heyman, who produced the Harry Potter films, will be returning as producer for Fantastic Beasts. It is set in New York in 1926, seventy years before the Harry Potter series, and will feature Newton Scamander as a main character. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them tells us that Scamander had been travelling the world in research of magical creatures since 1918, culminating with the publication of his masterpiece in 1927. My rating 9/10.
